lode definition: ‘a rich source or supply’

Welcome to lode, a rich source to empower those who care about how their home looks,

feels, and lasts.

This space was created to help you shop smarter, understand more, and feel confident in the choices you make about the pieces you live with. Whether you’re buying something new, secondhand, or exploring your style, Lode exists to help you go beyond the surface.

What I’ve come to learn is that while having a ‘good eye’ is a beautiful thing - understanding why something works, how it’s made, and what it’s made from is what truly empowers better decisions.

What this space is about

I'm on a journey to learn more about design history, materiality, and the movements that shape the furniture we see (and sit on) every day. I want to share those learnings with you.

Each edition of lode will explore things like:

  • The materials that matter - and how to tell the good from the bad

  • Design eras and icons

  • What to look for when buying secondhand

  • How to recognise real craftsmanship - even if you're not a designer

  • How to choose quality over quantity - and why it matters for the planet

Here’s the truth: I love beautiful interiors, always have done, but I’m conflicted about contributing to a world of mass consumption. I don’t want to fuel a culture of disposable design or add more waste to the planet. I want to help you build a home that feels good, functions well, and lasts longer.

Why this matters

Design shouldn't be overwhelming, intimidating or wasteful. It should be accessible, educational, and rooted in intention and integrity.

If we understand craft, we value what we own.

If we understand material, we shop with more care.

If we understand design, we stop chasing trends, and start creating timeless spaces.

Thank you for being here. I’m so glad you are.

Let’s learn together and make better choices.

More soon,

Amy
